OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION, MANAGEMENT AND FURTHER PREVENTION

The threat of outbreaks from the diseases such as cholera, diarrhoeal diseases, chicken pox, typhoid, food poisoning and hepatitis in the rural outreach centres and in the post-earthquake-stricken communities due to contaminated food and water is yearly high. Hence, the DCP created an Outbreak Prevention and Management Unit (OPMU) within the DCP. The major task of this unit is to plan, coordinate, and implement activities for the prevention, immediate management and containment of outbreaks in the communities mainly (but not limited to) outbreak affected districts primarily through the existing outreach centres and also through collaboration with other governmental and non-governmental health and relief organisations. More than 450,000 people had been benefitted through this work till date.
